History of the Yläkaupungin Yö launch event: artist interviews (in Finnish)
Were you at the best gig ever at the Yläkaupungin Yö? Did you end up being part of a bizarre performance? Did you waltz in the Aamu Club, fall asleep in the Ilokivi cinema in the small hours or perhaps meet the love of your life?
A history of the Yläkaupungin Yö is in the making, and interviews with the performers will give you a taste of it on the festival Saturday. The sessions will be launched by choir conductor Rita Varonen, Annu Sankilampi from Teatterikone and Kriso from JKL Funk Days and KPC collectives, both of whom have performed at the Yö several times. The event will be hosted by Juha Mäkinen, author of the Yläkaupungin Yö history-book.
The history-book is also looking for visitors’ memories and stories of the Yö over the years, so the event will also offer a chance to share both big and small memories.
The event will be held only in Finnish.
